Career Information
An important part of her professional career was dedicated to teaching upper elementary students, New Teacher Development, Family and Community Engagement, and Leadership Development in Houston’s Independent School District. She earned 2 Teacher of the Year awards during her 4 years of teaching. Through her hard work and dedication to students, Andetria was selected to travel nationwide with University of Houston’s program Consistency Management and Cooperative Discipline to create tailored courses and programs as well as train educators on working with inner city students in order to provide the best possible learning environment within the classroom walls. From there, Andetria moved to Cypress-Fairbanks ISD as a School Counselor for 7 years. Although her skill set allowed her to incite real change in the way that teaching and counseling services are offered throughout the local school system, she always felt motivated to create these sorts of outcomes for individuals through personalized counseling and therapy. Currently, Andetria works as a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Registered Play Therapist in her own private practice, Green Pastures Therapy and Counseling, PLLC. Currently she provides various types of therapy (Trauma, EMDR, DBT, etc.) for clients coping with mental health diagnosis and life issues.
Over the years, Andetria has worked as a volunteer for many charitable organizations. She helped to develop the sports based after school program for Hamp's Camp, Inc, which was developed by her husband, Rodney Hampton, where after school services have been provided for numerous schools in HISD since 2010.
As the loving wife to a former professional athlete and the mother to three beautiful children (Rani, Rodney, Jr., and Rylee), Andetria is dedicated to providing love and support to her family and community. Andetria enjoys traveling, spending time with family, and helping others become their best selves!

What is EMDR?
EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy. It's a psychotherapy technique used to help people process and cope with traumatic experiences or distressing memories. The therapy involves recalling distressing memories while focusing on external stimuli, such as eye movements or tapping, to help the brain reprocess those memories in a healthier way. EMDR has been found to be effective in treating conditions like post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other trauma-related disorders.
Grief Therapy
A grief therapist, also known as a bereavement counselor or grief counselor, is a mental health professional who specializes in helping individuals cope with the emotional and psychological aspects of grief and loss. Grief therapists provide support and guidance to individuals who have experienced the death of a loved one or are dealing with significant losses in their lives.
Here are some key aspects of a grief therapist's role:
Compassionate Support: Grief therapists offer a compassionate and understanding presence to individuals who are grieving. They create a safe and non-judgmental space for clients to express their feelings and emotions.
Validation of Emotions: Grief can evoke a wide range of emotions, including sadness, anger, guilt, and confusion. A grief therapist validates and normalizes these emotions, helping clients understand that their feelings are a natural part of the grieving process.
Individualized Approach: Each person's grief experience is unique, and a grief therapist tailors their approach to meet the specific needs and circumstances of the individual.
Coping Strategies: Grief therapists assist clients in developing healthy coping strategies to manage the pain and stress associated with grief. These strategies may include relaxation techniques, mindfulness, and self-care practices.
Anxiety and Depression
Treating anxiety and depression through counseling and therapy can be highly effective and transformative for individuals experiencing these mental health challenges. Therapists and counselors employ various evidence-based therapeutic approaches to help clients address their symptoms, understand the underlying causes of their anxiety and depression, and develop coping strategies to improve their emotional well-being. Here are some common therapeutic modalities used in treating anxiety and depression:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): CBT is one of the most widely used therapies for anxiety and depression. It focuses on identifying and challenging negative thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to these conditions. Clients learn to replace irrational thoughts with more balanced and constructive thinking, leading to improved emotional regulation and behavior.
Mindfulness-Based Therapies: Mindfulness practices, such as Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) or Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), are helpful in cultivating present-moment awareness and reducing rumination and worry associated with anxiety and depression.
Psychodynamic Therapy: This type of therapy explores the unconscious patterns and unresolved conflicts that may contribute to anxiety and depression. By gaining insight into their past experiences and emotions, clients can work toward healing and personal growth.
Play Therapy
Play therapy is a form of therapeutic intervention specifically designed for children and sometimes adolescents. It utilizes play as a means of communication and expression to help children process their emotions, thoughts, and experiences. Play therapy is based on the understanding that play is a natural way for children to communicate and make sense of their world.
In play therapy, a trained play therapist creates a safe and supportive environment with a wide range of toys, games, art materials, and other expressive tools. The child is encouraged to freely engage in play activities of their choice while the therapist observes and interacts with them in a non-directive and non-judgmental manner.
Play therapy can be utilized for various emotional and behavioral issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, behavioral difficulties, and adjustment problems. It is essential to have a qualified play therapist who understands child development and is trained in the principles and techniques of play therapy to facilitate the healing and growth process effectively.
